The First Nations Housing Movement has formed a partnership with an R&D laboratory to produce an antimicrobial paint. Extensive testing has shown the compound to kill a wide range of bacteria including MRSA, VRE, CRE and many others.
The antimicrobial product can be added to water and solvent-based paints. Paints containing this product are long-lasting and promote improved overall health, while keeping the surroundings clean and fresh. All the paint used for the First Nations Housing Initiative is recycled. Our recycled paint partner sells to Walmart, Lowe’s and Giant Tiger. By using recycled paint, we ensure we are saving the environment from contamination.
The paint product has been extensively tested by BioScience Laboratories Inc. and the University of British Columbia. Test results are available upon request.
Be Bio-Thermal Coating provides protection from corrosion and eliminates radiant heat. Tests have proven that our coating out-performs R-20 foam insulations and is Energy Star Rated
Thermal or ceramic coatings reduce thermal transfer and are typically applied to roofing or wall systems.
Projects have lasted 15-20 years following the application of our thermal coating and have consistently reduced temperatures in the 45 F – 66 F ranges.
First Nations Housing Movement Labour Force is comprised of an 85-person team with 95% of these members being First Nations. Our partnership will incorporate the training of local people to assist our core build team ensure all structural guarantees during construction. All participants engaged in the process adhere to the following values while achieving:
Cultural Respect for First Nations
Economic Development
Local Training
Over 300 Homes Constructed
Complete Subdivision Infrastructure
Community Buildings
Be Housing has recognized the importance of respecting the cultural practices of our First Nations partners. Beginning the journey with a ceremony, elders will offer prayers giving thanks to those involved with the building of not just the structural houses, but new homes for those most in need.
Be Housing has partnered with groups that have been involved in the provision of cultural training through Elders Advisory Councils for large corporations like Tim Horton’s. More recently, we have been approached to provide online cultural training modules for SafetyNEt who provide training for 3,000+ companies including ConocoPhillips, Suncor, Enbridge, Gibson Energy, WestJet, GoA and many more.
